The Healing Power of Yoga in Psychotherapy – and Integrative Approach
Veronica Vaiti, LCSW-R, CCATP
Psychotherapy and Yoga Therapy, although different share a number of similarities, most notably promoting self-discovery, self-awareness, self-integration, healthy functioning and self-acceptance. Incorporating mind/body awareness building practice such as gentle movement, experiential exercises, mindfulness, meditation techniques, breath-work and even mantra into the psychotherapeutic framework can create powerful and profound shifts and changes for the client and therapist. Being trained as a yoga teacher need not be a prerequisite in order to utilize the wisdom and power of Yoga Therapy in the practice of psychotherapy. This workshop will address how to incorporate Yoga Therapy in a safe, ethical and appropriate manner with your clients and yourself!
